Ground Zero. We had to hit this spot. In 2002, Ron and I and our two oldest children were in NYC, when we were at Ground Zero it was still so fresh, there were missing posters of family members and loved ones everywhere the streets and walls were completely covered. If you remember the iron cross that was formed and left behind when the twin towers went down those were still there it was all to real. This time it was different, a place of mourning and a sacred place. They have started rebuilding the new towers which will be called the Freedom Towers. We went inside St. Paul's church which was one of the Church's that the fireman used as a place for rest and also a place for bodies. When I entered this building a rush of sadness came over me, it was so overwhelming. The church kept one of the bench's that the fireman would sit at, as you can see in the photo the bench is all scuffed and marked up from their heavy attire there were also burn marks in the wood from the boots that the fireman wore, a firefighter suit from a fallen fireman lay on the bench to remind us all what was sacrificed on that day.
